The bedrooms upstairs are fairly cramped, with two beds in the smaller room and four in the larger one. Between them is a relatively recent addition; a room with a "shower" and something called a "toilet"? The locals don't see what's so wrong with just using a normal chamber pot or outdoor privy, but they understand that it's something novitiates care a great deal about. One of the first newcomers paid a great deal to the Old Ones to have them installed, to they should really spare a prayer to thank that thoughtful soul.

Novitiates are still very new, and while they are free to devote their days to studying, it is understood that most of them will choose to do otherwise until they've become acclimated. But once a newcomer has achieved the status of brother or sister and has successfully preached to the church about the glory of the Old Ones, they will be trusted to lead a household of their own. The space is the same, but might feel a bit larger when shared with fewer bodies.
A follower that has achieved at least the second rank will be able to apply to the elders for their choice of housing, and invite three or more roommates to share it with. The roommates may still be novitiates, but the person applying for the home will be held responsible for any indiscretions performed by their guests.
A follower that has achieved the third rank or higher is considered eligible for solo housing. Once they are qualified to hold a sermon of their own, it's natural to imagine that they might want some time alone.
